Children are allocated a House team when they start at Slingsby School and remain in the house until they leave the school. The House points are awarded to our children each week via our Class Dojo system to reward positive behaviour that demonstrates the school’s values (Respect, Honesty, Resilience, Expectations and Caring for Others), teamwork, approach to work, and overall attitude. House Points encourage students to collaborate and work together towards common goals. They can also help children to develop teamwork skills and learn how to resolve conflict peacefully.
The House totals are revealed every Friday in our Celebration Assembly and a medal given to the winning house point members at the end of each term. This reinforces our expectations for excellent behaviour and manners in and around school, equipping the children with essential attributes for their future.
Our school council came up with the House names and designed the shields which we have proudly displayed below.
